A bridge that spans venice's busy water throughfare the grand canal :D

A 50mnt sketchwork of Rialto Bridge, soon to be built in Mars

Not a tracing job. In corel Painter there is an option to record the painting progress in scripted format. further to be captured as video or gif animated format :D
Just read jeremy sutton's digital artist handbook : [link]

Why venice? Inspired by Amano's homepage : [link]
Well, it's just a sketch. But still,I can feel how much pains Kozue Amano really went to. So yeah, grab any photo of venice, and compare it to ARIA manga/anime, not mine! praise her, not me!

Read / listen to how she did her storytelling about venice's architectural and cultural histories, myth, social life, etc. And find her hidden message. it's very heartwarming & inspiringly addictive. you won't find any bloody or "ecchi" depiction, but you'll never get bored! Also, her coloring style is mysteriously unique, suspiciously beautiful. :)

I think I'll try to color it and add some more girls on it :D. until then, enjoy the sketch! Do you love Architecture? You'll love her. Do you love cats and girls? you'll love her too.

* hahah, I didn't make a fanart and still, I'm promoting her too much :D. but who care as I already sold my soul to her for 80 euros =p

Awesome pic mate. How's painter to use? I've been looking at picking up a copy and giving it a shot.

Nice, followed the link and I think I'll be spending a fair amount of time on Amano's homepage... so where's the "sell soul" button? Need to figure out if I can get her ARIA mangas over here.

:D
For pure painting, Corel Painter is the best, because it already has in built settings for different media, e.g, ink, water color, oil pastel, real bristle (?) etc, and it has paper as canvas that reacts differently, e.g, blotting paper which will soak up water color etc.

Photoshop is good for photomanip & fine smooth digital painting (or smoothening an image from other graphic program), as in trying to get a photo quality image, and of course for editing images, but it doesn't have "paper" that can react to brushes and media, and doesn't have pre-set brushes that act like real media, e.g water color, oil pastel, etc. :)

well, you said you start using tablet last year. as a start, you can use the bundled software, (painter essential) shipped along with any wacom tablet, or have the trial version of painter X.

painter 8 is cool, umm what kind of animation you're trying to achieve? .gif? flash .swf? movie .avi / .mov? well, if you wish to make a frame stack of drawing process, it was already explained in the given [link] above (digital artist's handbook preview).
